The building was built on one of the most famous hills in Budapest, at the top of the western side of Gellert Hill. Gellert Hill is a bit different from the other hills surrounding Buda. It stands alone, separated from the others, right on the banks of the Danube, facing the river with huge, gloomy rocks. Its enormous size, hard, barren stone walls give it a "masculine" character, unlike the other mountains' soft, sloping, friendly, "feminine" nature. In the basic character of the house - like a drop in the sea - lies the character of the mountain and the spirit of the place.
