As children sitting in a circle touch each other’s feet, a particulary strong form of connection develops. In our concept the wings of the building surround the core, which is the agora space that organizes the building complex. Above there is the place of immersion, the library garden.
The mass formation - closely related to the spirit of the place and implementing the program - is perhaps the most essential part of the architectural concept, the core, the skeleton. This is why we feel it so important to express our opinion about the place with the installation itself. In this case, the challenge of finding the right place is that the dimension of the program is completely different from what the spirit of the place would suggest. In a free-standing residental environment, a much larger-scale program should be placed on a huge plot.
By properly segmenting the mass required by the program, we can approach the scale of the environment, but even so, it is difficult to avoid excessive dimensions. At this point, we received help from the operating principles outlined in the program. The call for proposals emphasizes the need for central organization in several aspects, and the central-radial layout inspired by it not only leads to the expected functional operation of the program, but also slims the end facades of the radially placed wings, which are close to the surrounding condominium scale. While the longitudinal facades facing each other at an angle are much less perceptible with the tree - planted courtyards.
The central-radial arrangement also coincides in a philosophical sense with the intentions of the MCC.
